Now that you’ve created, “The List”, you might be wondering what you should do next. Or not, but I’m here to help you every step of the way. The admissions season has died down. Requesting brochures and curriculum guides shouldn’t be too difficult. You want to purchase blank filing folders and dedicate each one to a school on your list. It is very important to stay organized during the admissions process. You can wait to do this step over the summer but admissions departments tend to take their vacation during this time with the rest of the faculty. The office won’t have a full team to handle heavy call volumes and incoming emails.
Now is the time to research, read, and think about what you want in a school
I suggest reading over the materials and creating a small list of questions or concerns you may have regarding each school. To request admissions materials all you have to do is:
- Go to each school’s admissions page.
- Look for a “request application” button or “view brochure” for schools offering an online viewing experience.
- You enter your name, mailing address, phone number, and email.
- Click the “submit” button.
- Voila! You’re done!
You may receive an application along with the materials you requested. You should file this away in the appropriate folder for when the admissions season starts in September. You also want to make sure you write down the contact information for each school’s admissions department. I can’t reiterate enough that it is very important to be prepared and organized for the application process. It is never TOO early to start researching and closely reading each schools materials.
